Lighting Design Kapalua Home

Layered, low-glare architectural lighting designed for a Kapalua home renovation.

THE PROJECT

Designed for
island living.

Patina was commissioned to provide lighting design for a substantial residential remodel in Kapalua, West Maui. The homeowners wanted illumination that felt layered and welcoming without the uncomfortable glare or excessive brightness they associated with conventional fixtures.

The lighting concept balances light from floor to ceiling, supporting the architecture while drawing attention to the owners’ artwork and decorative elements. Patina also contributed to the coordination of architectural details, including moldings, coves and tile layouts, so the lighting strategy could be integrated with the broader renovation.

This project demonstrates how residential lighting design connects visual comfort, artwork, architectural detailing and the way a home is experienced.
